Freelance Writers (Stringers)
Status: Part-time
Location: Remote

Summary: Freelance Writers contribute original, psychiatric survivor-centered content to The Madvocate, a statewide newspaper led by and for people with lived experience of trauma, institutionalization, neurodivergence, extreme states or other marginalization by sanism. Writers pitch and produce articles on news, arts, policy, and advocacy that reflect and elevate the voices of Vermont’s psychiatric survivor community.

Rutland County Patient Representative (Advocate)
Status: Part-time (up to 20 hours/week)
Location: Hybrid (hospital and remote)
Application Deadline: Until filled
Summary: The Rutland County Patient Representative visits Rutland Regional Medical Center psychiatric unit each week to inform people of their rights, support grievances and discharge planning, and model Intentional Peer Support in every interaction. No experience required. This part-time role includes paid training and furthers MadFreedom Advocates’ purpose by ensuring the voices and rights of those held involuntarily are heard, respected, and acted upon.
